Can anyone tell me if the normal forms of public transportation; buses, taxis, public cars, guaguas and motos, operate on Christmas Eve Day and Christmas Day? Should I expect reduced or no availability? I'm mostly interested in the North Coast. Thanks for any info.

If I remember from last year in Puerto Plata; the buses, taxis, publicos and guaguas stopped running about noon on Christmas Eve Day, and all day Christmas. The motos were avalable but were charging double. Interesting was that on Christmas Eve afternoon everything was shut down, but on Christmas Day many of the stores (i.e. Casa Nelson) were open. Don't know about Caribe Tours, Javilla, etc.
