    Default Consumer Protection Law

In another thread Keith R. mentioned the new Consumer Protection Law. Rather than hijack his thread, I thought I'd post the question here.

Does anyone know anything about this law?

Yes, I do. In fact, I am in the process of writing up a point-by-point summary of its key provisions for my own website. I would be happy to post a link here once it's ready, if Big Boss (Rob) allows.

In the meantime, here's a short blurb on it I did when it was adopted:

Keith, thanks for the info. I look forward to the point-by-point summary.

I guess it's sucess will depend on if the government actually funds the "Pro-Consumidor".

I can't imagine how a consumer protection law would work. Its more difficult getting the authorities to perform at the level they are expected to than the person/firm you are dealing with to begin.

The DR only enforces maybe 20% of its laws.

I have found the best personal comsumer protection plan here is to get three quotes, tell the one I select to drop their price by 20%, and offer a bonus if they get the job done when they say they will. Of course, I always hold most of the payment until the job is completed and I am satisfied.
