Just out of curiousity does the DR have farmacias like in mexico or do you need to see a doctor first or have your own prescription???

You don?t need a prescription.
In every city there are tons of farmacia?s, from early morning til late.
At least one 24/7.
They also do delivery.

Many drugs that require a prescription in the US can be bought over the counter in the DR. I don't believe you can buy barbiturates over the counter.

Antobiotics, Antifungals, Lidpid Lowering agents, blood pressure meds and more that typically require a RX in the States are over the counter here.

Things like pain killers, valium etc. require a RX.

The Farmacia's there are like Tim Hortons here... well in Cambridge at least... 1 on every damn block.....

I had many Farmacia trips on this past trip... lord. .

Not to mention the erectle dysfunction meds hawked in every Farmacia and tourist gift shop.
