In fact the some stores decorate more for Valentine's Day than for Christmas.
Everthing in downtown Peurto Plata is red and white.

It is a big deal, and it's not just about lovers, either. It's called 'el d?a del amor y la amistad' (love and friendship day) and everyone congratulates each other, and in come cases exchange gifts.

Does anyone know if the tradition of sending anonymous cards exist here, at all?

Here I have sent and received anonymous cards/letters/gifts only in Christmas in the "Angelito" game companies/friends organize.

Maybe I have missed a similar game for Valentines Day, but never heard of it.

Maybe the concept of a secret admirer who can only express his/her passion anonymously is unique to the repressed north?:ermm:

Interesting article in today's paper.It is the busiest day of the year for private investigators. One girl last year hired an investigator,to check on her fianc? and he found he not only had one on the side... but three. :surprised

Yikes, it probably is the biggest day for them, I can just imagine how many people are two timing today...... :paranoid:

I believe the article was in the Wall Street Journal.

BTW: If 2/13 is for the mistresses and 2/14 (Valentine's Day) is for the wives, then 2/15 is for who, the babysitter??
