Dooes anyone know if there is a Big Brothers/Sisters Program going on in the DR.?

I'm trying to help a friend in the DR, who is having a hard time with her 13 and 11 y/old and I really think she could take advantage of a program like this. They grew up grew up without their dad (really?? In the DR.?? Impossible!! uhhh). It's really helped my other friend's son here in Los Angeles; and I was just wondering.

Any help will be appreciated. She doesn't have access to a computer and it's very hard for her to move around.

Just in case!!! (Big Brothers/Sisters is an organization that started in the states and it's about mentoring and learning from good/educated citizens)

Thanks lots!

I cannot imagine anyone entrusting their kids to an unknown person here in the DR. There is no way to run a background check on anyone, other than a poor police system with very limited information. Heck, you cannot really trust your own family members or friends with your kids, you never know who is going to try and molest them here!

It might work here in the DR only if a Big Brother/Big Sister included the parent in the activities, as an escort/protector of their own kids. Heck, if they are poor, they will enjoy it too.
