Hope this is helpful!!

How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on
your phone:

* # 0 6 #

A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your
handset.. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. when your phone get
stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They
will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the
SIM card, your phone will be totally useless.

You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either.
If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

It works in my two lines; a Verizon and a Cingular. You might want to call your carrier and ask them to give you the codes for your type of phone. I love this system! I paid US$ 150.00 for the Cingular and in Los Angeles we don't have people stilling phones; but I lost mine and after a week I got tired of waiting for someone to turn it in. It didn't happened and the company told me to disable it so nobody could ever use it. It is dead now! If many people do it; then the thieves will have to head in another direccion/resource to make money!
