Mobile Phones

Hi,

Can somebody please tell me where I can get hold of a mobile phone which works in the mountains of Peurto Plata? Also how much do they cost in DR or can I get them else where cheaper? We live in England and are coming out (again!!!!!) in April and want to buy one of the guys from one of the horse ranches a phone as a present!

The cellular phone service in the mountains of Puerto Plata is sporadic. There are areas which receive a signal and a hundred feet away it won't work. Some families have a fixed cel phone which has an antenae and a box which you plug a regular phone into. They have better range but stay in the house. jSomeone else will have to help you will the costs.
