'Dominican (President)' as in 'President of the Dominican Republic',
'President's Mum' as in 'the Mother of the President of the Dominican Republic',
'Hot Topics' as in 'subject matter of some earthy type discussion',
'Abound' as in 'a lot of it going around'!!

It is a play on words for suggesting the President' Mother is still a lively 'Old Girl' where enjoying life is concerned!! Hope you understand now ~! Grahame.

Two nations divided by a common language. ;)

Let's try this: for all North Americans what would be your reaction, for example, if your neighbour told you that he is a hooker at weekends? Or perhaps a friend tells you that she always has a joint on Sundays? Maybe a friend asks to borrow a rubber from you. Or perhaps he tells you that he really needs a fag.

Because in UK NONE of those things would raise so much as a twitch of an eyebrow because they have different (and clean) meanings.

Now, do you know what they are.............?

In relation to rubber, we had some issues when Jonathan suggested calling our baby Johnny ... I tried to explain the issues that could arise when he got to school age but it just went straight over his head ... needless to say he just accepted the straight NO WAY to that name

Nothing to do with US-GB English, but it was not too easy for me to explain why 'Diego' and 'Manuel' were not the best choices of names for a boy who may end up spending some of his childhood in the UK. Luckily other Dominican boys' names like Wendy and Abigail were never suggested.
