A couple more questions about the new beach project (In fact it's seems more like ?reality? now..!).

1 - Where did they started exactly (from Puerto Plata city). Is the beach is now in sand in front of the malecon by exemple..?

2 - Where did the works stops now..? Did they have Cabarete re-sand too ? Are any works ahead or to be finished..?

3 - Are they put new sand in the Sosua Bay beach area ? Is the area near Casa Marina Reef have yet a low (narrow) sand bar to pass by or...

FOR COSTA DORADA AREA EXPERT ! >>
4 - Is the fact they ?extend the beach? in front of Coral Marien (Costa Dorada), is it more windy on the beach.
It's very difficult to figure what is the look of this new iniative for tourism.

5 - Are the locals happy with this new beach..? What did they think about that..? Is this situation will creating a gap/cold between tourists and locals who prefer to have this amount of money for schooling purposes for exemple..?

Thanks in advance for reading and answering me. If you have pictures (before/after style) like BaileyBoy I will be glad to see them.

Hey Holacanada! A happy New Year to you too... The beaches from just east of Fort San Felipe infront of the Malecon all the way to the start of "Longbeach" have all been converted from scrappy, garbage-ridden pockets of sand to excellent sand beaches. The conversion is quite remarkable and includes the beautiful completely re-paved Malecon which now has red-brick sidewalks and new street lights. In addition, all the road intersections are re-paved and all the w...e houses and junky restaurants at the corner at the start of Longbeach have been bulldozed and cleared.
The sewage system in Puerto Plata is being revamped with big backhoes and using 3ft cement pipes which have severely disrupted traffic, with horrific (but vital) trenches. New treatment plants are apparently planned. The reconstruction includes road paving, streetlights and wide red brick sidewalks from PP to the (running) University (past the turnoff to Costambar). When it is all finished it will really be beautiful. Now, if they could rid the city of all the power plants and motoconchos........ Canadian Bob.
