School Project need all help

I've been sreaching all day for info on the Dominican Republic for an essay I have to do for english class. What I need is information on the differences between the United States and the Dominican Republic, its suppose to be about someone moving to US for the Dominican Republic and the changes they have to go through and how it effects them.

Any help for this message board would greatly be appreicated.

Try Julia Alvarez, she is a writer from the DR. Her family came to the States when she was quite young. I think that all of her novels have this theme. Good luck!
