I don't even know if rentals are available any more, and especially for a month it would not be cost effective. You can buy a cheap phone at an Orange outlet for under RD500, and that includes some call time; then buy the calling cards for additional minutes. Either that, or bring an unlocked GSM phone with you and get a SIM card from either Orange or Claro.
