I will be retiring to the DR early next year and once settled in will start the process for obtaining my temporary residencia. I have found a lot of helpful information by searching under "residencia". Many thanks to all who posted.

But I cannot find the information I have previously seen somewhere about capital deposited or invested in the DR. I believe this either facilitates the application or is even a requirement for those like me who cannot show evidence of employment as proof of solvency.

If so, what is the required sum? And does it have to be in DR pesos?

Your pension, etc. can be used to show income if you have either or both.
If you buy property, that can also be used in addition to income sources.

I don't know a dollar amount required. If you will be in SD area or Santiago area you can get the paper work and ask questions from Immigration.

In my opinion, Santiago is a much better user friendly location for Immigration.
