Aduana & Computers: Oil & Water??

Anyone had any recent experience with the local side (aduana, etc.) of ordering a new computer and having it shipped here, like with Dell, Gateway, etc.? I know the tax rate is supposed to currently be low, but is it recognized in reality? I am trying to decide whether to buy a computer here or order one and have it shipped in. Thanks in advance for any info.

You're much better off to buy it here. Not only do you avoid the import hassles, but you can get one as cheap or cheaper than from the states. I got a top-of-the-line system and saved several hundred dollars from stateside prices. Also, parts and service support is very important and this is now readily available here in the DR.
