Hillbilly is Right. It's about 1 hour from La Romana to Higuey (from cruze de Chell - Shell gas station crossroad), 45 minutes at night.

Boca de Yuma crossroad is about 15 minutes before Higuey. Just keep going straight on the second crossroad (the first one is Bayahibe) after passing the loooong straight stretch of the raod. If you cross the railroad tracks you've gone too far, return back about 1 km.

From cruze it's about 10 minutes to San Rafael de Yuma and from there another 10 minutes to Boca de Yuma. Hillbilly's estimate of 1 hour is correct. Maybe 5 minutes more or less. Depeding on time of travel and traffic conditions.

The road between La Romana and Higuey is pretty good, all major potholes (4 of them) have been covered (as of last week). But here in the east huge potholes magically make themselves out of nothing. There is a lot of traffic on LRM-HIG route, lots of buses and trucks. So just be careful.

From Boca Chica it's about 60-80 minutes to La Romana, depending on how you drive. The stretch between San Pedro (cruze) and La Romana is pretty fast, even though most is only a two-lane highway.
