I have a friend that is considering getting his first passport for a trip to the DR.
He said that he was "adopted" by his stepfather at the age of two, but it was not a legal adoption. He was just given the guys last name. He's 53, so he says he's been living under an "alias" for the last 51 years, since he never bothered to legally change his name.
All his gubmint documents are in the "alias", SS#, DL, Diploma, degree, etc., but not his Birth Certificate.
What ramifications would this have in getting a U.S. passport?
