how big a group will this bachelor party be?
last year we had one [group of 16] and we all stayed in Boca Chica [Hamaca resort], kept it easy, close to the capital by bus, night life crazy as always, close to the airport for a quick get away!
any preference to what the groom wants to do? the group? has anyone actually BEEN to DR before? majority vote?

I'll send you a pm with all the info you will need for a successful bachelor party, one that you and the groom will never forget.

Just don't blame me if your friend decides not to get married after all!!!!!!

That is, if the groom is not you...

I actually am the groom. I'm into having a good time, Bezrin, I got your PM and we're on the same page, not everyone will be though. I have been to the DR, but it was a long time ago and I was a kid. I am not Dominican or Spanish, so Spanish isn't the greatest.

From I hear, if you're going for a bachelor party Sousa or Boca Chica are the way to go. it should be a pretty decent sized group, some of the attendees will be more debaucherous than others, so I need to keep it somewhat balanced.

nope

Do you have an input as to what would better?

I agree with Sosua and Boca Chica.
My personal opinion: the beaches up north from Puerto Plata, Sosua and Cabarete are MUCH NICER! but I had more fun and the night life was better in Boca Chica....plus it is closer to the capital should you lads want to venture off! :bunny:
flip a coin! LOL
are your flights booked? if they are then it all depends where you fly into because Boca Chica is like 10 minutes tops from Las Americas
to go to the north it is better to fly into Santiago and or Puerto Plata if possible! :bunny:

Sosua is like one big bachelor party...Almost everywhere you look there's food, booze, great cigars....and of course, beautiful women...plus a casino, and excellent beaches. A couple of decent all-inclusive hotels, several "economy" hotels, lots of condos and villas to rent...places for massages (with and without 'happy endings'!)...even two decent "steak houses", a sports bar and an "Irish Pub". Best place I would recommend for a big BP dinner is Joseph's Grill and Grape.. a real Gourmet steak dinner, good wine, great cigars...right on the water with a great view of Sosua Bay...on top of that, a short taxi ride away is world class golf, eco-tour type stuff, more beaches, Cabarete for water sports, etc, etc, etc....and it's only about 10 minutes from POP International Airport.

Thank you

You all have been very helpful. We're planning this for the middle of September. We had a few options, this being one of them, the other two being Costa Rica and Montreal. Montreal a lot of us know well, CR and DR being the places where we'd be new to the scene. I actually wanted to throw a bachelor party for my best man in the DR, this was a little while ago. And I think I remember hearing about boutique hotels in sosua where you can take over the whole complex.

I'd definitely opt for the nicer beaches and its good to know everything is withing in walking distance.

However, anyone feel free to chime in with input.

let me speak for CR. you have your choice of Pacific Coast or Carribean side beaches to choose from. the DR may be cheaper than CR for hotels. additionally, Ticas from CR cost a bit more than DR chicas for a bachelor party  since prostitution is legal in CR...
personally, i would go with DR if you don't know the CR scene.
all that being said, if you're just trying to have a nice clean bachelor party. try the North Coast as suggested and ignore my mongering post....
