I think that in Punta Cana, a peque?a presidente costs about 30 Pesos...
How about the other areas? And the prices of the big bottle?
(I would like to know the difference from the cost of the Presidente and other type of drinks (santo libre and so on) between touristic places and not touristic...)
Thanks to everyone...

In Barahona, at a colmado or grocery store, a small Presidente costs about 15RD and the large about 20RD. It's probably double that at bars, discos, and resorts. Rum is cheep too, like 25 to 30RD for a small bottle.

In Cafeterias(what means even Bars in spanish), Discos, Car-wash (they all have big bars with entertainment*LOL*)you pay about max. 20$RD for a small and 30$RD for the Grande. But here are some Gringo-places the charge you almost 25$RD for a small, but never more.....because they dont sell Grandes*LOL*.
But in just normal dominican places even a Grande never will be more than 25$RD.

The prices do vary between 15 and 45 pesos depending on where you go and (Unfortunatly very few consider this when they criticize Gringo establishments) the overhead. Most Dominican places don't pay electricity, generator, income taxes, sales taxes, minimum wages, permits etc. These places can sell a beer for 20 pesos and make more bottom line than places selling for 30 or 35. I don't have a problem with that however there are to many businesses owned by foreigners that get away with that to.

Good points Eddy. Wasn't thinking about overhead costs that you'd have to pay that Dominicans don't. Sorry.

The Merengue Bar at the Jaragua charges 60 pesos for a Presidente! That is expensive by Dominican standards but not really bad when you consider they have great orchestras and never charge a cover. A glass of Johnny Walker Black is 100 pesos there.

The funny thing is they just opened a Champions sports bar and I believe they charge about 30-40 pesos for a Pequena. Plus they tend to serve it colder than at the Merengue bar. I've noticed some people going to Champions, buying a beer, and when they walk into the Casino they are given a plastic cup to pour their beer into. They can then walk right into the Merengue Bar and enjoy the orchestras! To me not worth saving 20 pesos but if the beer is much colder, I might have to give it a try.
