Gran Ventana is only one of over a dozen large resort hotels in the midsts of a gated golf and beach complex called Playa Dorada. The hotel is beach front.
On the common grounds of this development you will also find a small mall with all sorts of shops, restaurants and a somewhat simple movie theater.
The whole complex is considered safe. You will be able to book tours in your hotel to visit the surroundings or just hop into a cab and drive into downtown Puerto Plata.

Gran Ventana is a beautiful hotel and one of my favourite places in Playa Dorada. You are guaranteed a great time.

I have stayed here twice ('99 & '06) & really enjoyed it.

Food & night shows were better than most of the other hotels in the complex.

It is very close to the mall, discos etc.

I am sure you will be very happy with your choice.
