I will be in Santo Domingo in early September and I want to see the city of Bonao. Would it be better to take the bus and do a day trip or would it be better to spend the night? Also, any night life in Bonao? Thanks.

For some reason, Bonao doesn't seem to be too popular with people on this forum. I'm planning on moving to Bonao soon, and haven't been able to get much info on it. Most people recommend towns by the beach or bigger cities like SD and Santiago. I guess that could be a good thing. If Bonao is not too popular, it's probably not overrun with tourists.

This may be too late if your trip is early September but there really isn't much to do in Bonao, if there is I haven't found out what. You can travel a little further north and visit Jarabacoa as an overnight trip.

Here is a quick look at Bonao.

Folks I know here, Dominicans, say Bonao is one of the more corrupt towns in the country. I recall a year or so ago, like 95% of alll the cops tested positive for drugs.
