If a Dominican has a visitor visa to Canada and has been here, gotten married in Canada but returned to the DR, would they lose the visitor visa while going through the process of the PR visa to Canada?
I know someone who married a Dominican who was here on a visitor's visa and once they were married and she sponsored him he had to return to the DR to await the approval process. However, I believe the laws have recently changed (in the last year or so) and the spouse would now be allowed to stay while awaiting approval but I'm not 100% sure. Tell her to call the Immigration hotline to make sure.
