Hi All,

Can you help clear something up for me? I know that there is a $20US departure tax from the DR but what I want to know is whether you can pay in Peso's at the airport?

If it has to be US$ how do I go about getting 20 of them?

Sorry if the question is dumb but I'm a new resident in the DR and haven't worked it all out yet.

Thanks

Are you sure you are not referring to the "Overstay" fine?

How long have you been in the DR?

You can buy $20 @ any cambio if your ticket did not include the departure tax back to The UK! (It may have been included in the airfare???)

hey, thanks for all of your quick replies. This for a friend who will be departiing SDQ next week after a 2 week stay. She's flying with Iberia to Madrid. I just didn't want her to get to the airport and find that she needed $us20 to leave.

Sorry if I wasn't clear

I agree folks, i think most major American airliners include this in their fares although I do recall someone paying for their whole family and I think they were on a Delta flight. I last travelled on Delta and didnt pay the departure tax.
Although.....I did fly once on Air Santo Domingo and had to pay...i had no dollars on me and gave the agent 500 pesos and he let me go! LOL :)
