I will be staying in Gazcue in mid January. I would like to do some swimming but my hotel does not have a pool. (I chose one with a kitchen instead). Would anyone know of hotel in the Gazcue/Malecon area that allows entrance to it's pool during the day for an entrance fee? Thanks in advance for any help.

Pool

The Melia Hotel has a great pool and a day and weekly pass rate. I believe the day rate is 500 pesos and that includes use of the pool, health club and showers/locker ect. The weekly rate, as I recall is 2000 pesos or thereabouts.

The Hotel Jaragua and Napolitano also offer day passes.

Looks Great

Thanks for the replies. From the photos on the hotel's web sites they look like they all would be great. I wish I had asked the question before I spent 6 days roasting in the capital in October. Spending a few hours poolside during the heat of the day is absolutely worth the entrance fee! Thanks again.

Update

When contacted directly both Jaragua and Melia say they no longer allow day passes. The Napolitano does still allow it for $700 pesos($350 for kids) and that includes lunch, taxes and a "welcome drink".

I do think that the Melia allows ?seasonal memberships" for a few months... They just did not want a whole lot of people coming in for the day.... but if you are presentable--- ok,.... read... white, foreign, wealthy,,, and will be here for a bit of time, go in and talk to them... there are not many people there....

Hotel Intercontinental V Centenario on Malecon has day passes for the use of their pool and bar, it's a nice pool area with views of the sea on the 4th floor.

The last time I went to Hotel Santo Domingo (2 months ago) they charged me RD$290...That includes use of a pool, chairs, towel and shower.
I can't believe how much Nepoliatano is charging now, I used to pay RD$130, of course that was in 2004 but sheesh...:squareeye

Yes, but if I'm not mistaken, the Napolitano price includes lunch as well. Or I hope...

Info on Napolitano

This is the copy of the reply from the Napolitano on 11/25. I don't know what lunch would consist of but even if it's just a sandwich and a "welcome drink" I figure that's worth $300 pesos, so $400 pesos for pool use for the day would not be too bad. Also it's close to where I'm staying. "Dear Mr. Brian

The cost of the day pass is: RD$ 700.00 per Person

Include Buffet in case of Group or Lunch in case of less then 15 persons.

Included use of the Pool and a welcome drink, if there are any children under 12 years old they will pay RD$ 350.00 each kid.

These prices include Taxes."
