From Dominican Today;
"Santo Domingo.- The Interior and Police Ministry yesterday said the ban on civilians bearing guns starts Monday, December 1, and ends January 1, aimed at reducing crime and encouraging "coexistence without violence" during the holidays.
The resolution includes the definitive cancellation to own a gun for anyone who violates the ban.
The suspension doesn?t include the weapon's transfer from one place to another. However they must be stored and not be readibly usable."

Franklin Almeyda Rancier, the Secretary of the Interior Police and Ministry who issued the decree is getting a lot of "heat" from the the public sector.
In this scorching segment from Freddy Beras Goico, he tells the populace to do the complete opposite; to find any and all weapons and arm themselves against the criminal elements;

Do you feel safer knowing that citizens that legally carry guns for self protection are being disarmed when crime is typically at it's peak around the holiday season?
Could the bad guys construe the December gun ban as open season to prey on the vulnerable?
I don't have any assurances from the police that they can guarantee my safety to any degree, nor can I afford a bodyguard 24/7, so I personally will remain armed.
