Los alcarrizos is a very poor area. it is very large and there are places where it could be danger for gringos. if you have a peace corp looks, not problem.
there is a hotel at the entrance of the alcarrizos, in the autopista duarte. I guess there is lot of noisy from big trucks and cars anytime. also most of this hotels (not for tourists) rent rooms for hours. so, expect some drunks and pros after midnight.
