I got today an unsolicited call from Proseguros offering me some hospital-stay plan, the basics are you pay 17 pesos per day in premiums, and they pay you 5000 pesos per day if you have to be hospitalized, even for 1 day.
I am just wondering how they are ever going to make money on that plan, it's easy to make a "deal" with a doctor that you have to be hospitalized for 4-5 days, pay the clinic maybe 2000 pesos per day, and Proseguros paying you 5000 pesos.... hmmm this sounds too good to be true and there's gotto be some catch, otherwise a high number of Dominican population would have a new well-paying job - "being sick".
