Yes, we all know baseball is the king sport in the DR. For some of you that say that soccer is not for Dominicans, I gathered a few videos and info on Dominicans playing soccer professionally abroad.

Yohan Viola- Yohan Kely Viola S?nchez (born 21 October 1981) is a footballer from the Dominican Republic who currently plays for GC Biaschesi at Swiss 1. Liga. He previously played for FC Chiasso (2003-2004), AC Lugano (2004-2006) and FC Winterthur (2006-08) in the Swiss Challenge League.[1] He also holds an Italian passport. He is from Juan de Herrera, province San Juan de la Maguana.

Viola made an appearance for the Dominican Republic national football team in a qualifying match for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

If the Yohan video doesn't play, look for it on YouTube. No sound because of stupid copyright laws.

Vinicio and Jose Espinal-Eduards Vinicio Espinal Marte (born 14 November, 1982 in Santo Domingo) is arguably the best football player to emerge from the Dominican Republic. Espinal emigrated to Italy in 1991, where he played with Serie A team Atalanta B.C. and is currently playing with F.C. Crotone in Serie B. Espinal is a holding midfielder and has several caps under his belt for the Dominican Republic.

They are both from the Villa Olimpica section of SD. I managed to get 2 short videos.

Victor "El Mambo" N??ez is originally from the Dominican Republic but he moved to Costa Rica when he was 14 years old.[2] He received a Costa Rican passport in 2003.[2]

There might be a few others upcoming Dominican soccer players, and for the last time YES Dominicans play soccer.

This is good to know...Mainly because I left all contact with DR football in 1975 after winning three national league championships in a row. We had several very good players, a couple of whom went to Germany to play (Leduco Oba, was one that comes to mind), Mostly they were just good kids trying for an education and a chance in life...

Given the chance, Dominican are good athletes...they play excellent basketball, volleyball, football, box, Tae Kwon Do, Judo, weightlifting, and given the chance and the training, track and field...Problem is, no money, no sponsorships....for any but the marquee sports...Sad but true..When you give a clown like Marco Diaz millions for swimming some long distance thing (He has never won a swimming medal in any event) but force your best athletes to join the Armed Forces to eat, sacrificing studies and all else...that is just stupid...

Let's not even talk about the possibilities of good Dominican players that might come from Spain, there's a Dominican community in Spain, soccer in Spain is the king sport so I see more Dominican players coming out of Spain in the future.

True, but soccer is the fourth most popular sport in DR, so it's basically a thing where it's something rare hearing about a Dominican playing soccer professionally, since baseball is king in DR.
