I've read a few older posts about broken ATMs that give no cash but still charging the banks. According to the thread dates, that problem continued on for 6 years. The last post was in 2007. Is it safe now to use ATMs around Sosua area?
Someone posted on another board that it happened again last week. I recommend using your card inside at the teller counter during opening hours. You will need your passport or cedula (and sometimes, at the whim of the teller, a second form of ID).
There is no need to be worry about the ATMs in Sosua. I have been using them regularly and I have not had any problem. The ones I use are from el Banco El Progresso in the center of town.
