Do DR1 ex pats have a favorite Spanish song?, if so what's the name and tell us why you like it.

Here's one that became very popular in the US, it's probably the Spanish song most performed by American artist and is probably known by some posters. The author was Alberto Dominguez, Mexican.

There are SO many, but I think my #1 is Gloria Estefan's 'Mi Tierra'. It speaks to the love that one has for their homeland, wherever it may be.

The first two aren't in spanish, just the lines that you've put so I don't think they qualify old boy! What is spanish for muppet? LOL

Volare is Italian and then the Gypsy Kings came along. ;)

One of mine is La Bamba from way back but liked it even more when Los Lobos re did it

The Gipsy Kings are from France. I'm gonna get slaughtered for this but I love "Hero" by Enrique Iglesias, the spanish version!

Volare is not Spanish but Italian. I love both Domenico Modugno and Dean Martin versions, I played them so much by now even my kids love 'em.

I can't stand neither Enrique nor his father (Julio).

Is there a Spanish version of the song Hero by Enrique?.

My favorite for the past couple of months has been Seduceme
(salsa version) by La India.... I must have played it 1000 times. Her voice is beautiful, the song is heartfelt....

La India is an excellent singer, one of many with extraordinary talents which she hasn't been able to cash them. I love this one:
