Hi there:

We will be going to the Gran Ventana on the first of Feb. for our 4th visit. To us it is a bit of heaven here on earth although some of the other resorts are probably as good.

We prefer quiet rooms and therefore ask for a room looking out toward the pavillion where the marriages are performed. 1133 is our favourite. Rooms overlooking the main pool are fine if you like to watch the action at the pool and on the stage. Things usually quiet down after midnight anyway. We heard complaints from people who had rooms on the outerside of the newest building because they claimed there was noise from a neighbouring casino and the street.

Weather should be fine in March. October-November is hurricane season but the north shore hasn't been hit too badly at any time (as far as we know).

Food and service are fabulous. As you are possibly aware there are 3 specialty restaurants in addition to the cafeteria. We found the cafeteria food so excellent we did not use all our tickets to the specialties.

I have never been bothered by mosquitoes or any other bugs down there but my wife was bitten on the ankle by some unknown creature last year and her foot swelled something terrible. There is an excellent medical clinic a short distance from the hotel where she got prompt and efficient treatment. The hotel is allowed to take you down there on a modified golf cart if you are unable to walk.

We did find that my wife got bitten when we were near the beach after sundown so it might be wise to take along a repellant.

We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we have.
