vacation. Involuntarily.

A British tourist, allegedly drunk, said he had a bomb in his luggage whilst in the transport from Hotel Gran Ventana to Puerto Plata airport for a flight back to UK on Tuesday. Other passengers notified the airline when they got to the airport and a full scale search was carried out. No explosive devices were found but the tourist and his wife, 'Thomas Anthony Ramond and Joanne British Citizen' according to Listin Diario, were handed over to Politur. No mention of what happened to their two children who were travelling with them.

I wonder if he'll get billed for the time and effort of the Cuerpo Especializado en Seguridad Aeroportuaria officers and the K-9 team, the services of the Hon. British Consul and whoever is looking after those children?

you would have thought that the editor of national newspaper would understand english enough not to put "british citizen" as a name :nervous:
i love how they went to great lenghts to note full names of kids: "Thomas Layla Tornel y Hardy Hayley Sandra Michelle" :devious:

They have had a comment about the name mistake on Puerto Plata Digital from a reader pointing out that it would be the same as saying Jose Cuidadano Dominicano for a Dominican arrested in UK.
Puerto Plata Digital

Unfortunately even Diario Libre refers to this woman as Joanne British Citizen
Detienen pareja brit?nica por falsa alarma de bomba en aeropuerto dominicano - DiarioLibre.com

It will be interesting to see what this man gets charged with, if anything, that is if they haven't already left the DR. Certainly the aircraft captain would have had the right to refuse passage to a drunken passenger.
