The ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) majority in Congress passed the bill for extending the National State of Emergency another 45 days. The present state of exception would have expired on 1 December 2020. The bill passed in a morning session in the Chamber of Deputies and in an extraordinary evening session in the Senate. The President needs now to issue the official decree to formalize the continuing of the state of emergency.

Does this mean the curfew is automatically extended to the same date also? The curfew is/was slated to end Dec. 1 just like the S.O.E.

Now the President has the right to extend the curfew for the amount of days he wants, but no more than the 45 day extension. Expect him to extend it at least past New Years.

There is a spike in Covid-19 cases. For the first time the government has carried out more than 9,000 tests. People are gathering...

The government has said they are playing it by ear. Christmas and New Year's flexibility will depend on the Covid-19 numbers. Right now, it would seem the "state of control" is weak, and the spike could turn into a continuing trend.

The testing amount is low. Most don't go to hospital even when very ill.

The D.R. has had a very aggresive tourists campaign that is about to backfire.
