New returns to make Duarte Highway safer

The Ministry of Public Works began works to eliminate irregular crossings on the Duarte Highway, and build returns to facilitate safe mobility on the country’s most important north-south road. President Luis Abinader himself attended the start of the works on Saturday, 17 April before leaving to Spain to participate in the Iberoamerican Summit.

The Ministry of Public works will be building 19 returns on the Duarte highway to eliminate the illegal crossings that people have improvised on the road. The Ministry of Public Works says it has a budget of RD$92 million for the construction. The returns are part of an overall Santiago to Santo Domingo highway improvement that has a budget of RD$2.5 billion.
