Villa Altagracia police commander sent to jail as murder case of a newly married couple is investigated

A month after the killing of a couple when returning from a religious activity, the police patrol commander in charge is ordered to stay in jail. A Villa Altagracia court ordered one year of preventive detention against Colonel César Maríñez Lora for the death of Elisa Muñoz and Joel Díaz. The couple was murdered by a police patrol when inside their vehicle. Mariñez will serve the sentence in the El Polvorín jail, in Villa Mella.

Others serving preventive custody in the case are lieutenant Victorino Reyes Navarro, sergeant Domingo Perdomo Reyes; corporals Norquis Rodríguez Jiménez and Ángel de los Santos, and privates Antony Castro Pérez and Juan Samuel Ogando Solís, members of the actual patrol.
