The judges of the First Collegiate Court of the National District, Esmirna Giselle Mendez, Tania Yunes and Jisell Naranjo only found commercial representative of the Brazilian construction firm Angel Rondon and former minister of Public Works Victor Diaz Rua guilty in the US$92 million bribes case. The case began in 2017 after Odebrecht officers admitted to paying the bribes to expedite contracting works in the Dominican Republic in a New York City court in December 2016.

The case was investigated by then Attorney General Jean Alain Rodríguez. Early on, the president of the Criminal Court of the Supreme Court of Justice, Miriam German Brito warned that flaws in the preparation of the case would undermine the prosecution efforts. So basically they are free to carry on as free men in the DR?
