The National Police announced an investigation into the death of 33-year old Dabel de Jesús Zapata, the son of ruling Modern Revolutionary Party legislator, Darío Zapata. Darío Zapata represents Dajabón. The legislator learned of the death of his son when he was accompanying President Luis Abinader who was in Dajabón for the commemorations of the Restoration of the Republic on Tuesday, 16 August 2022.
What is known is that Dabel de Jesus Zapata was killed in an assault on a fast-food business located at Av. Independencia 8-1/2 in the National District on the early morning of Tuesday, 16 August. Zapata died of a bullet wound. The murders escaped in a Honda CRV.
An online search reveals that Dabel de Jesus Zapata Rosa was on the payroll of the Centro de Excelencia Luis Encarnacion Nolasco as a teacher.
