The Central Electoral Board (JCE) announced that all is ready for the ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) presidential primary. The national electoral party and the PRM are organizing the primary. The primary is also a pilot for the upcoming municipal, congressional and presidential elections in 2024.
The presidential pre-candidates for the PRM are President Luis Abinader, who seeks to be reelected and contenders lawyer Guido Gomez Mazara, a former legal advisor to former President Hipolito Mejia; chemical engineer Ramón Alburquerque, a former Minister of Economy and former senator for Monte Plata; and little known lawyer Delia Josefina Ortiz, who is also a psychologist with a masters in diplomacy, international law and education.
