26-year old Robert Pigozzi Perdomo had won the gold medal in water skiing at the 2019 Pan American Games. He medaled again and delivered silver in 2023 during the slalom competition on 23 October 2023 in Santiago de Chile. He scored 6.00/58/10.75 in the preliminary round and later scored 1.00/58/10.25 to win the silver medal.

Pigozzi is the son of an Italian and a Dominican. His family operates a facility to teach waterskiing in the Dominican Republic.

Pigozzi was the flag bearer together with equestrian athlete Yvonne Losos de Muñiz for the Dominican Republic in the Parade of Nations at the opening of the Santiago Games.
