The three main problems that affect the Dominican Republic today are linked to citizen security, the high cost of living and unemployment, according to the Gallup-RCCMedia survey, Diario Libre reports.
The percentage of Dominicans mentioning crime as the nation’s most important problem was 62.6%. Robberies, assaults, gangs, and crime in general for the first time are identified as the country’s main problem. Economic issues – inflation, cost of living (61.2%) and unemployment (19.5%) follow.
When persons eligible to vote in the 2024 general election were asked how things are going in the Dominican Republic, 52.0% said the country is headed in the wrong direction; 38.2% said it was on the right path, 7.9% said it was on neither the right nor the wrong path and 1.9% don’t know.
