Dominican Juan Soto, formerly of the San Diego Padres, was not satisfied with the offers he received from the New York Yankees, so he went to arbitration. And man o’man did it pay off. According to Mark Feinsand of Major League Baseball.com (MLB.com), Soto was awarded US$32.5 million for the 2024 season. This is said to be the highest figure ever for a player who opts for arbitration, surpassing Shohei Ohtani’s US$30 million last year.

And get this: Soto, who was obtained at year’s end from the San Diego Padres will be a free agent at the end of the 2024 season, and all bets are off if he has a good season with the powerful New York team.
