The staff of El Nuevo Diario interviewed deputy Omar Fernandez who is running for senator for the National District for the People’s Force (FP), the party of his father, three-time President Leonel Fernandez and for the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD).
In the interview, Omar Fernandez advocated for a Ministry of Family to group the many state entities that deal with family issues, such as the Ministry of Women, Ministry of Youth and Conani, the children protection agency. He said the Ministry of Family would be key to resolving crime that he blames on the lack of opportunities for young people. Fernandez is against the passing of the three exceptions to abortion.
Fernandez has the gift of word of his father. He has a strong following among young people after a first term in the Chamber of Deputies. In the interview, he said he hopes to gain more of the senior citizen...
