The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup is coming to the Dominican Republic

What’s all the fuss about the Under-17 Women’s Youth World Cup? It is that the Dominican Republic, a country with no tradition in soccer, for the first time is hosting a soccer world championship. The top 16 teams in the world will be participating in the tournament that will be played in Santo Domingo and the country’s second-largest city, Santiago de los Caballeros.

The U-17 World Cup to be held from 16 October to 3 November 2024 will follow the unprecedented qualifying of the Dominican national soccer team to the Paris Olympics, a major feat for the emerging sport in the country better known for its baseball and women’s volleyball team sports.
