Drug authorities made another major haul of cocaine when they seized what is probably half a ton of the drug at the multimodal (container) port at Caucedo in Boca Chica. Agents of the Dominican Customs Agency (DGA), the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD), and the military security units stationed at the Punta Caucedo container freight facility made the successful seizure. Intelligence reports allowed the authorities to create a profile of dozens of containers heading to Hamburg, Germany.
The use of advanced scanners allowed the surveillance teams to spot some inconsistencies, and a search was carried out under the auspices of a prosecutor. The declared cargo was coffee. However, authorities also found some 20 large packages containing 497 kilograms of what is expected to be confirmed as cocaine. The investigation will continue.
