In a joint operation coordinated by the Public Ministry, members of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD) and agents of the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) seized 264 pounds of suspected marijuana in the southwestern province of Pedernales.
Military personnel and agents were conducting inspections on the Oviedo-Pedernales highway, in the Tres Charcos area, when they intercepted a white Daihatsu truck, license plate L191664. Upon noticing the authorities, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.
Subsequently, following instructions from the prosecutor, the truck was searched and five sacks were found in the back, camouflaged in bales of clothing. These sacks contained a total of 39 packages of the substance, with a preliminary weight of 264 pounds.
