The Taino Cultural Center at Casa del Cordón is the newest attraction open to the general public in the Colonial City. The colonial building dates back to 1503 and is regarded as the first stone and two-story house in the New World. It now houses the permanent exhibition of approximately 350 pre-Hispanic archeological pieces donated by the García Arévalo Foundation.
The Banco Cultural renovated the Casa del Cordón into the Taino Cultural Center on the occasion of its 60th anniversary.
The Taíno Cultural Center at the Casa del Cordón is open to the general public from 9:30am to 6:30pm, Tuesday through Sunday. Admission is free until 31 January 2025. Guided tours can be booked.
