President Luis Abinader announced on Sunday, 1 December 2024 that retired members of the Dominican Armed Forces will receive 100% coverage for their health insurance starting 1 January 2025.
During a luncheon at the Ministry of Defense, Abinader expressed his gratitude to the retired military personnel and emphasized that this increased coverage is a matter of justice. “Now, when they need it most, they will have full access to healthcare,” he stated.
The President acknowledged the long-standing disparities in pay and benefits between active-duty and retired military members. He assured the audience that the government is committed to improving the conditions for all members of the armed forces in the years to come.
