The story of Manny Cruz I have known for years. Every interview that was done to him was in Spanish. Now this one is in English.
Like many Dominicans, he had immigrated with his family to the USA (Miami) and was living there as a mechanic or something to do with cars if I remember correctly. He had the desire to return to Santo Domingo and everyone told him that he was crazy, very negative about the idea. He went back to the DR anyway and there were many years where he wondered if it was the right choice. A lot of work as a singer and not much to show for. He did concerts all over the DR. Then one day things began to change and essentially, the DR rose him to stardom. His decision to return to the DR wasn’t easy, but in the end it was the right choice. Now he has reached a level of success beyond his wildest dreams, all thanks to the DR and Dominicans. It did took pretty much a decade of never giving up until the DR open the doors of success for him. Had he given up on the DR, he probably would still be working with cars in Miami.
