Luis Miguel de Camps García is named to head the Ministry of Education, the government section with the largest budget in the Dominican Republic. The appointment is effective 26 February 2025.

De Camps is credited with organizing the Ministry of Labor. He has postgraduate studies in Harvard University in negotiation and conflict resolution. He is going to need the best of these skills as he takes the helm of the Ministry of Education.

He will now lead the merge of the Ministry of Education (Minerd) with the Ministry of Superior Education (Mecyst). He is entrusted with continuing to deal with the resistance of the Dominican Association of Public School Teachers to assessments of teachers and incentives by merit versus over the board.
