DR to play Puerto Rico in Caribbean Series; Game could decide who matches Mexico in the finals

Mexico (Charros de Jalisco) is undefeated in the Caribbean Series taking place in Mexicali, Mexico and earned a slot in the playoffs of the regional winter baseball leagues. The DR (Leones del Escogido) has won two games and lost one against Mexico. The semi-finals are on 5 and 6 February, the final is set for 7 February.

As of Monday, 3 February the standings of the regional championship were:Mexico 3-0; Dominican Republic 2-1; Venezuela (Cardenales) and Puerto Rico (Indios de Mayaguewz) 1-2 and guest country Japan (Japan Breeze) 0-2.

On Tuesday, 4 February, the DR plays Puerto Rico and Venezuela will play Japan.

In the history of the Caribbean Series, teams from the Dominican Republic have won the most championships with 22, followed by Puerto Rico (16), Mexico (nine), Cuba (eight), Venezuela (eight), Panama (two) and Colombia (one).
