Winners of the Soberano Awards for best in 2024

Zoe Saldaña received the Grand Soberano Award towards the end of the 2025 Soberano Awards telecast from the National Theater on 25 March 2025. She is the first actress to win the award. She also won the best actor abroad award.

In her short speeches accepting the awards she spoke of her strong ties and Dominican roots and how proud she was for herself and her family to receive the awards. She dedicated the award to her late father, Aridio Saldaña. The Dominican awards mark the end to an unprecedented season of recognitions honoring the first Dominican artist to win an Oscar.

The Soberano Awards recognize the best in the entertainment business as voted by the members of the Arts Chroniclers Association (Acroarte).

Wow, not just a Gran Soberano, but was also distinguished with the Heraldic Order of Christopher Columbus: Comander Grade medal.

Dominicans that achieve extremely high recognitions in various fields either in the DR or abroad but make very clear their link to the DR are honored with any metals from the government.

The same with Dominican military soldiers that do extremely heroic things.

Zoe Saldaña isn’t just part of a very small group of Dominicans that receive some of the highest honors in the DR, but even fewer are Dominican-Americans.

Thoroughly deserved. She is truly inspiring. Her speeches come straight from the heart and it is obvious that she is so grateful for everything she has achieved. Her speech after receiving the Presidents recognition you could tell that she was very humbled.
