Apparently this happened in Uvero Alto. A German built some sort of business by the beach in Uvero Alto. There were some regulations regarding how far into the beach it can be built by anyone (not just expats.) He was notified before that he can’t build beyond what is legally allowed. He built it anyway beyond the limit.

At 3:32 a video clip of what happened to the place is shown.

It was actually 2 businesses that were torn down. El Navagante was there for years but was literally falling into the ocean. A few years ago all the little shacks attached to it were removed. It was an eyesore and would have been swept away in the next storm.
The other one was a restaurant/bar called Coco Mar (formerly Castaways). The owner claimed he had approvals to build right to the water which no matter how many bribes he paid was still a dumb thing to do. Then he put a VIP section in front of property owned by Sirens hotel. They finally had enough of his crap and insisted the government do it's job and remove these structures. Rumor has it he is going to put food trucks there now.
Some people never learn.

I can't wait to watch the govt. equipment chase the trucks around the beach.
